]]>Side note: (My team & I attempted to do the best we could creating loc extensions for the first time :). It was the original plan to enlist help creating them, but there weren't any responses to my requests, so we had to move forward the best we could using YouTube University, LOL)
At the top, we have the Wire-wrap Spirals, and at the bottom we have the Teardrop Cuff Loc Jewels. Each is sized accordingly.
Updated 2022, TLJ's LOC SIZE CHART added to accurately measure your locs to ensure the best size. (Copyright 2022 by Tiffany Parr)
THE LOC SIZING CHART above displays the millimeter size of your loc and the most common cuffs used by Tiffany. Please refer to the YouTube Videos named, Loc Jewelry Spotlight, to demonstrate how this loc jewelry is applied or you may visit the Video Tutorial Page. Use the contact form to ask any questions you may have about the jewelry in relation to your size loc. With your inquiry, it is helpful to attach a photo of your locs to expedite a more accurate answer.
This would typically entail all locs that fall between the super TINY LOC, MICROLOCK OR SISTERLOCK RANGE. Tiny and Sisterlocks being the smallest, and gradually increasing to Microlock. This size varies from loctician to loctician and is subjective to them and their style of doing locs. All jewels can otherwise be seen in the Peerless Collection, which are jewels specially made for those with small locs or jewels from all collections released down through the years for sisterlocks.
The MEDIUM LOC SIZE is generally in the TRADITIONAL range and slightly higher. This is the most common size loc size, and most of TLJ's are created in this size range. Most all Tiffany's Loc Jewels traditional size is 6mm. However, you may request at checkout if you're needing a more accurate size. All jewels can otherwise be seen in the general LOC JEWELRY category, or any recently listed collection.
The LARGE SIZE is perfect for the loc jewels which fall into the category of LARGE TO JUMBO size locs. These are perfect for customers who wear soft locs, free-form or different types of faux locs. If you're size is not listed in the photo, kindly submit your loc size jewel request at checkout. All jewels can otherwise be seen in the Zenith Collection, which are jewels specially made for those with large locs.
*Loc Jewelry in this Size Chart is from the 2019-2020 Color Me Beautiful Collection, Rustic Romance 2021 and Vintage Glam 2021.
*If someone would like to use this TLJ's Loc Size Chart, please submit a request at this time to use by permission. This picture will be available for sale at a future time. Thank you!

How do I know if I’m ready to transition to locs? Well, in my humble opinion, there are a few ways to tell if you are ready to make that fantastic leap!
I would have to guess that most of you reading this article are probably ready for locs and just need that kind nudge to help you finalize your decision. If you are on the fence, maybe by the end of this article, you may have a clear indication as to what side you stand on.
First, answer the questions in this short quiz, and I believe you’ll likely figure out the answer.
If you answered YES to all the odd questions, then you may not be quite ready for locs, If you answered YES to the even questions, then locs may just be for you.
Locs aren’t for everybody. Most people who wear locs take great pride in their appearance, but don’t particularly care if others approve of it or not. Most of them don’t care if anyone but themselves like them, because they personally know what benefits wearing locs affords to them. People who wear locs tend to be low maintenance people who aren’t afraid of commitment. They are very decisive people, who know what they want, and have a fearless streak in them. They carry a boldness about them. They are most often at peace with themselves!
Unity & True Beauty
In an effort to stay unified, this doesn’t exclude people who enjoy other hairstyles, whether natural or not, it just appears (in my humble opinion), that loc’d individuals have a bit more of this in relation to matters of their hair, not necessarily life in general. We should all strive for unity no matter what hairstyle we embrace, whether it be natural hair, sisterlocks, relaxed hair, weaved, baldness, straight hair, short afro, loose natural, braids or microlocks. In any and all hair, we are all beautiful, and most beautiful, when it emanates from within us! This is the most important notion of all! Beauty from within, affects our beauty from without.
If you love the look of locs, but are afraid of the commitment locs bring, or want the immediate length, desiring possibly loc extensions, I would say weigh all your outcomes and make the decision you can be at peace with. If you want to experience the full loc journey, start from scratch and allow your locs to grow slowly, caring for them daily. As they grow, you'll fall in love with each phase.
One thing to consider is…..
Lastly, remember you have a window of time where you can have your locs taken down because they may not have fully loced yet. Consult your loctician on this, because they will know your grade of hair best, and how fast it will loc. So you'll have the option to take them down if necessary. As you know, getting locs is not an easy decision to come by. You should take all the time you need to decide. However if you’re stuck in “analysis-paralysis”, you may have your answer already.
Research your local loctician or even one you respect who may be far away in another state and contact them for a consult call. Look at their pictures for inspiration. Once you’ve completed your research, you may come to finalize your decision! TLJ’s wishes you the best in your hair journey, wherever it may lead you!
Xoxo,
Tiffany
Finally returning is the Loc Jewel & Necklace Set!
The first set available is the ULTRA-MODERN Agalmatolite & Green Tiger's Eye Necklace & Loc Jewel. Next, will be the option to choose from all the Ultra-Modern jewels and a few teardrop jewels. The bail on the necklace will be significantly smaller than the loc jewel and if you're requesting a sisterlock jewel, please indicated it at checkout. (All the variations will not be present on each jewel, however accommodations will be made).
Wear the beauty of TLJ's, as a necklace. These are perfect for those who love Tiffany's Loc Jewels, but don't have locs and still would like to enjoy the pieces. Please submit any questions through the chat or contact form.

]]>As the winter air is upon us, with dropped temperatures and changing elements, our locs have to combat a lot of abuse. From changing hats, brushing up against sweaters, and dealing with the cold air, we can easily find ourselves with drier than usual locs. There’s a few things we can do to help ourselves with this.
The first thing we can do is incorporate a silk scarf into our daily regime and sleep on silk pillowcases. Wearing a silk scarf assists in trapping the moisture emanating from your head and keeping it close.
Secondly, we can moisturize our locs with a conditioning mist. Whether it’s one of my mists (Natural Hair Mists) or someone else’s it is imperative that we keep our locs hydrated in dry air. Heat from inside the home can be dry at times, and the cold wind from outside the home can be drying as well. If you are looking for something with Rose Water in it because of its beneficial qualities, my Let Go Natural Hair Mist and Midnight Run Natural Hair Mist both have it in them. They are under the Floral & Men’s tab. Rose Water facilitates the strength of your locs because it is a robust moisturizer and acts as a toner for your hair. Peppermint oil helps also to stimulate the scalp and keeps it healthy due to its antibacterial properties. This can be found in Natural Hair Mists, Dream and Sacred. My personal favorite between these two is Sacred, but everyone has their favorites!
Next, we can make sure our ends are properly cared for. Taking some light oil and rubbing it against your ends can go a long way in preserving the integrity of the loc. Surely, we can oil the entire loc, but the ends are most vulnerable at this point. My Loc Drench Hair Oil has two primary oils, grapeseed and apricot oil. These will work just fine.
Finally, we can make sure we wash our hair within two to three weeks to prevent further drying. It is important we don’t neglect washing our hair during this time even though it can be inconvenient to have a semi-wet head for 24 hours. I prefer to air dry my locs after using a blow dryer for approximately 5 minutes directly after twisting my roots. Otherwise, I air dry. Washing locs is a vital process in hair care. I will be sharing more about my loc routine in an upcoming book.
Our locs are the crown of our head. We should take the time to nourish them accordingly. If something works well for someone else, but not for you, don’t do it. If you have your system down, it’s fun to try new things, but feel free to go back to what works. Trust your instincts through it all. Do what you feel is best for your locs at the time. Most of all, remember the health of your locs is more important than the length of your locs. Maintain the integrity of the locs no matter what! :)
*This blog article was repurposed from being written years ago, after many felt it helpful to them. Now, looking to revise it with the latest conditioning mists added.

Healthy locs are the sole and primary responsibility of the loc owner. When someone first chooses to loc their hair, it’s an exciting and new experience and the one thing they want to do more than anything else is make sure their locs are healthy and strong. I would even suggest that beauty is secondary. That being said, even as desirous as purchasing loc jewelry can be, it comes in second to maintaining a healthy loc. So let me share four tips to ensure you can maintain your locs longevity while still enjoying the luxury of embellishing your locs.
#1- If your locs are immature, start your collection of loc jewelry with wire-wrap jewels only. This way, you can adjust your loc jewel to the size that your loc will eventually be. Wire-wrap jewels are adjustable, and with TLJ’s, you can extend the wire by making it longer or shorter as is your preference.
#2- Move your loc around on a two-three week rotation. Make every attempt to not allow one loc jewel to remain on one loc for an extended period of time. Slide it either up or down the loc, or move it to another loc all together. Try this all while ensuring the loc jewel does not fall off the loc. Loc Jewelry should be semi-snug around the loc and you should be able to shake the loc vehemently and it not fall off on you. If it falls off or slides off during your sleep, then the loc jewel is on the wrong size loc.
#3- Gently palpate the loc after you’ve removed it from the loc. You may wash it, or do this on “wash day”, or semi-monthly, to ensure no damage is done to the loc and that there is no discoloration from products to jewels or locs. This you can do with shampoo/cleanse or a natural hair mist from Tiffany’s line of products.
#4- Wear your loc jewel as you would any other piece of jewelry, such as earrings or special necklaces. Since you can now purchase the loc jewelry applicator #locjewelryapplicator, you can easily re-apply the loc jewel the next day. If you choose, you may slide the jewel off at night and re-apply in the morning, especially specialty elite pieces. The jewels for every day wear, or “ready-to-wear” loc jewels, can remain on, however still remove on a bi-monthly basis. You can use your intuition to know when it’s time to remove a loc jewel as well, but wash day is a good time to move them around.
There are so many loc jewels to wear for various occasions, therefore, you can always choose by size to see what length best suits your locs and how much real estate you want surrounding your loc. Embellishing your locs with loc jewelry can be done in a tasteful way that guarantees your locs will remain strong and intact. One just has to stay privy to cues your locs are telling you and become proactive in caring for them.

Certain metals and plating (specifically gold-plated) can tarnish over time when exposed to chemicals, from products such as hair gels, perfume and lotions. Metals susceptible to tarnish, can tarnish when exposed to air. In order to extend the life of your jewel, we recommend you avoid its exposure to different oils and chemicals.
Here’s how to spruce up the following types of jewelry:
Gold-plated & Silver-plated~ 2 drops of mild dish soap in warm water, dip jewel and remove & rinse. Rub or buff item with polishing cloth.
Copper~ Combine vinegar or lemon juice with baking soda in sudsy mixture, dip jewel and remove & rinse. Rub or buff item with polishing cloth. Acidity will break down the patina that has formed.
Finally, to clean jewelry without submersion, we recommend gently wiping with a soft jewelry cloth and storing in a jewelry box after each wear.
